South Delta Artists Guild

About the Guild

The South Delta Artists Guild is a community-based, nonprofit visual arts organization that has been supporting artists since 1975. Operating from our home at Gallery 1710 in Tsawwassen; just a short drive from White Rock; we bring together artists of every skill level to create, exhibit, and grow together. Whether you’re just picking up a brush for the first time or have spent decades developing your craft, the Guild offers a welcoming environment where creativity is valued. We host juried and non-juried exhibitions, run workshops and demos, and maintain a full calendar of opportunities for artists across South Delta, White Rock, and the wider Lower Mainland to show their work and connect with a supportive arts community. Learn more about our history and mission here.

Our Story

Incorporated in 1975 by a small group of local artists, the Guild has grown to attract members from across the Lower Mainland; including many from White Rock and the South Surrey area; who appreciate our beautiful gallery space, generous workroom, and the many educational opportunities we offer. In 1999, we partnered with the City of Delta to become the primary users of the Kiwanis Longhouse, a building originally constructed in 1973 and designed to honour Coast Salish Longhouse traditions as a tribute to the Tsawwassen First Nations. After raising funds to renovate and equip the space, we renamed it Gallery 1710, and it has served as our permanent home ever since. Today we host more than a dozen exhibitions every year, both inside Gallery 1710 and at external venues like the Delta Hospital and Tsawwassen Library.

What We Stand For

Respect: We foster an environment where every artist, regardless of experience level or medium, is treated with dignity and appreciation for the work they contribute.

Integrity: We operate transparently as a volunteer-driven nonprofit, with decisions guided by what best serves our members and the broader arts community.

Inclusivity: Our doors are open to artists from every background, style, and stage of their creative journey. The Guild is meant to be a place where everyone can contribute and belong.

Support for Artistic Growth: Through mentorship, workshops, exhibitions, and peer connection, we’re committed to helping artists develop their practice and reach new audiences.

Welcoming White Rock Artists & Visitors

Gallery 1710 sits only a short drive from White Rock across the Tsawwassen-South Surrey corridor, making us a natural destination for White Rock artists looking for an active arts community to plug into, and for White Rock art lovers looking for a gallery worth the trip. A number of our members live in White Rock and the surrounding South Surrey neighbourhoods; they’re drawn to the quality of the space, the variety of work on display each month, and the strong peer support that comes with being part of a long-established guild. Whether you’re a White Rock-based artist looking to exhibit, a newcomer exploring what’s available in the region, or simply curious to see what’s on the walls this month, you’re welcome to get involved.

Visit Gallery 1710

Located just minutes from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal, Gallery 1710 is a bright, welcoming space open to the public at no charge. Shows change every month and exhibit work from our member artists; the range is genuinely wide, from abstract to traditional, watercolour to mixed media, plus a variety of 3D work. Visitors are often surprised by how much choice is available across sizes, styles, and price ranges, with up to 100 pieces in every show. Art cards, prints, and calendars are also available for purchase. Gallery hours are 12 to 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with occasional extended hours for receptions and special events. Guild member docents are on hand during every open session to help with purchases or answer questions about the work, the artists, or the Guild itself. See what’s currently on display.

Become a Member

Membership is open to visual artists at every level, and we encourage anyone who values the arts; White Rock residents included; to consider joining. As the saying goes, “many hands make light work”; at the Guild, all members are asked to volunteer as gallery docents and to join a committee or assist in some other way, to the best of their ability. It’s through this collective effort that members feel pride in our organization, learn from each other, and build lifelong friendships. Whether you’re looking for a place to exhibit your work, a community of fellow creatives, or simply a space to grow as an artist, the Guild has something to offer. Explore membership and apply here.
